Burials and Cremations

Times and length of the ceremony vary depending on the venue but usually a shorter ceremony time and committal

The average time is 20 to 30 minutes.

Green Burials

These are less time restricted, and can therefore be a longer ceremony, allowing more time for your farewells and greater opportunity to be creative with life celebration and committal.

Memorials and Direct Cremations

In a hired venue, I facilitate a longer ceremony/celebration of a life well lived before accompanying the family and the body for a quiet commital.

Fair Funerals

These are lower-cost ceremonies for those in financial need or on benefits. I will officiate at funerals at a lower rate as I believe all people should be given the dignity of recognition whatever their personal circumstances. Here, you still have the opportunity to say goodbye with respect.

DIY Funerals

You may choose to run the ceremony on your own. However, if required, I can help you by providing eulogy writing services and any other support required.

Pre-Planned Funerals

I work with families who wish to plan a funeral before the death, offering advice on music, readings, poems, etc.

Pet Funeral

Don’t forget your pets

For many, the loss of a beloved pet can be as distressing as any other bereavement. I provide a pet funeral service to help remember your best friend.

Memorial Celebrations

This is a life celebration held after the funeral, after direct cremations. Memorial celebrations can be done in a more informal setting of your choice.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I include some religion – e.g. a hymn?

I am a Civil Celebrant and not a Humanist and therefore am happy to include a hymn or prayer if requested.

Can I or my family take part in the ceremony?

It will be your ceremony and you can contribute if you want. Just let me have a copy of what you want to say, so I can fit the rest of the ceremony around it. Time can be at a premium in some venues, and we may need to limit the number of contributions.

Can we have candles etc.?

That is at the discretion of the venue.
